[Question] What is the purpose of main chip shield

Hi, I have screen DMG85480C050_03WN and I have hardware question. The screen does not fit in tight spot slightly, so I want to remove shield of main chip.



Is main chip shield only needed if its close to other electronic components?
Or is it needed even if its ~30cm away from other electronic components?
